How does one become a maker? What defines a maker and how does one identify with this role? What processes do makers go through and how are skills developed? This workshop explores biographies and identities, and how these have evolved into becoming makers, crafters, or tinkerers. A further publication addresses the definitions of making, makers, and the experience of making in more detail.
To answer these questions, different biographies and their pathways into making, crafting, and tinkering are examined. This not only reflects on how access to making emerged but also offers every workshop participant the opportunity to share experiences with others and, in doing so, to gain new perspectives, inspiration, and joint solutions.
The workshop was held at the Center for AIHI in Salzburg as well as during the NordiCHI 2024 Conference.
