Who exactly is a Maker*?
In this research project, we investigate how a diverse group of people can benefit from Making. We want to better understand who considers themselves a Maker*. We identify characteristics of Makers* and present them in the form of Maker* profiles. We develop Maker*-centered strategies so that as many people as possible can recognize the available infrastructures as relevant opportunities for them. We examine these strategies for their effectiveness for the target group. We investigate the ecological impacts and strategies for more sustainable Making.
The goals of our research project
On a societal level, the strategies aim to strengthen individual self-confidence and help in recognizing competencies, which can create new opportunities.
On an economic level, we identify training and education potentials with regard to Making.
On an economic level, we contribute to understanding the diversity of people as an advantage and making existing competencies visible and usable.
On an ecological level, we provide insights into responsible and sustainable Making as we specifically address repair, recycling, and upcycling.
